Spirals Mini Chandelier
Spirals Mini Chandelier

Made from salvaged Tasmanian Eucalyptus , chosen for its sustainability credentials as well as aesthetic appeal, these miniature lights are suitable for many applications. Spirals Mini Chandelier serves the function of lighting an area- while still creating a relaxing mood through the pattern of warm, yellow light being pushed through the horizontal slots. These horizontal slots give the piece its name, through the spiral-like pattern that they form.

Horizontal Linear Down Light
Horizontal Linear Down Light

This minimalist piece combines natural timber elements with an unexpected light source. The light is recessed into the specially selected horizontal timber piece and the custom made LED light source, includes an aluminium heat sink, light diffuser and wooden end caps. The result is what looks to be a branch hanging in space with light glowing from the underneath, with a neatly hidden light source.

Cylinder Down Light
Cylinder Down Light

Elegant and minimal in form these timber pendants light up an area directly below them without giving off glare to the side. The integrated warm white LED fixture has a tight beamed high brightness recessed light source, allowing for maximum reflection of the light from the surface directly below the luminaire.

X8 Seat
X8 Seat

This hand-made seat mixes rigidity with form. The name is X8 due to the X cross halving joint the rails form under the seat and the 8 degree angle of the legs. Utilising traditional furniture joinery this seat has been created to have a minimal elegant form. The hard Tasmanian Eucalypt combined with the traditional bridal joint and through pin allows for the item to withstand the test of time. Each seat can stack upon one another and nest for ease in storage.

Cracked Log Wall Sconce
Cracked Log Wall Sconce

Much of my work is inspired by organic forms with a particular interest in how light performs around objects. The Cracked Log Wall Sconces are made from salvaged logs which would otherwise have been burnt. These light shades embrace, rather than avoid the naturally occurring cracks in refuse logs. The Log sconce can be installed with the main light aperture either pointing down or up, allowing for a range of lighting options.

Propeller Pendant Light - Blossom
Propeller Pendant Light - Blossom

The Propeller Blossom measures at approximately 85 cm in diameter, adding a large level of presence as a feature light. Designed as a user-friendly flat pack system in order to reduce the cost of shipping and its effect on the environment, meshing organic and industrial shapes, these lights cast dramatic shadows through an 8-bladed form. A mix of hand-driven and computer-aided machines have been used in the construction of these lights, which are designed and produced in Tasmania.

Propeller Pendant Light - Ebonised
Propeller Pendant Light - Ebonised

Designed as a user-friendly flat pack system in order to reduce the cost of shipping and its effect on the environment, meshing organic and industrial shapes, these lights cast dramatic shadows through an 8-bladed form. The dramatic 3 dimensional form is high-lighted by the ebonised eucalyptus blades. All variations in the timber Propeller pendants available in this striking finish. Designed and produced in Tasmania.

Propeller Pendant Light - Copper
Propeller Pendant Light - Copper

This new iteration in the Propeller series counter poses the natural timber elements with the lustrous copper laminate. The copper inside of the light adds an extra warm glow to the light source, adding the warmth of the timber to the shine of the copper.

Stump (Indoor & Outdoor)
Stump (Indoor & Outdoor)

The Stump Light is the most recognisable design of the Duncan Meerding range. It won ‘Best Floor Light of 2018’ at the international DARC Lighting Awards, a peer to peer judged awards with over 6000 strictly vetted lighting design professionals voting. Stump is multi-functional and can be used as a table, stool or for mood lighting. Each light is crafted from salvaged timber, once destined to be burnt, and the warm yellow glow that they emit represents the flames from which they have been spared

Cracked Log Lamp
Cracked Log Lamp

Each lamp has been crafted from salvaged timber, which would otherwise have been burnt. These lamps embrace, rather than avoid the naturally occurring cracks in each log. In turning them into a vessel for light, we can bring the outside in as a reminder of our intrinsic connection with nature. Each Cracked Log Lamp is effectively a bespoke light vessel, with the unique characteristics of each log creating warm dappled mood lighting.

Cracked Log Wall Sconce

These light shades embrace, rather than avoid the naturally occurring cracks in refuse logs.  By turning them into a vessel for light, we can bring the outside in, and be reminded of our intrinsic connection with nature.  This vision of light emanating from the peripheries and the highly tactile nature of my work, reflect the alternative sensory world within which I design. The Cracked Log Wall Sconce will be launched in April 2019 at Euroluce as part of the Milan Design week.

A modern take on the traditional banker's lamp, this reading light features an adjustable raw salvaged log shade to better direct light. This log shade is joined to a hand-finished Tasmanian Eucalyptus base by a laser cut and bent steel stem. The base and stem are currently available in two options: A "rusted" steel stem with a naturally-finished Eucalyptus base, or a black powder-coated stem with a black-stained Eucalyptus base.
