Much of my work is inspired by organic forms with a particular interest in how light performs around objects. The Cracked Log Wall Sconces are made from salvaged logs which would otherwise have been burnt. These light shades embrace, rather than avoid the naturally occurring cracks in refuse logs.
By turning them into a vessel for light, we can bring the outside in, and be reminded of our intrinsic connection with nature. This vision of light emanating from the peripheries and the highly tactile nature of my work, reflect the alternative sensory world within which I design.
The Cracked Log Wall sconce comes with a custom bracket with an integrated LED light fixture. It can be installed with the main light aperture either pointing down or up, allowing for a range of lighting options, whilst having the randomised light patterns created by the cracks on the side of the logs.
Warm white LED light source, 12 vdc, 120 lumens, 45 degree beam angle.
LED driver for wiring to mains power.
Custom powder-coated steel bracket.
The Cracked Log Wall Sconce is supplied with installation instructions and a drilling template, and is to be installed by a licenced electrician.
